Who is your favorite video game character?

– My favorite video game character would have to be Master Chief. I’ve put many hours into Halo throughout my childhood, many late nights and all-nighters.  

What’s your Streamer Interview backstory and how did you get into streaming?

– My backstory isn’t much to begin with but at the time I thought it would be so cool to get paid playing video games. So I took a leap and started content creation and it has grown into something more valuable to me than the money. I now have built friends/relationships with people from around the world. Which built a community of people who enjoy watching play video games. 

Tell us about your channel and community:

– My channel was originally a “just play whatever you enjoy” at that time. Unfortunately switching between so many games at the time didnt help grow my channel. I then started playing survival games and I got caught up in a game called “The Isle”. I’ve been able to grow my channel with this game in particular. This has helped me branch out as a variety streamer. I’ve recently got into streaming VR as well. The VR community has brought me a lot of opportunities and the people surrounding VR have been super kind and helpful. 

What are your hobbies and interests?

– My Hobbies of course include video games but I also enjoy baseball and going to the gym. I was a left-handed pitcher who played NCAA baseball in college. 

What are your strengths?

– As a content creator some of my strengths would be Critical Thinking, Good Listener, Detail-Oriented, and entertainment. One of the best things about being a content creator is coming across people who have gone through a tough time in their life. However, it was you, the streamer, who helped them get through it. Giving them somewhere they could go to just to enjoy and feel like they truly belong. 

How do you stay creative?

– One of the biggest ways to stay creative is keeping an open mind. There are many different personalities and ways streamers can grab their audience and keep them entertained. You could be super funny, really good at the game, or just really interactive with your community. Whatever it might be I think it’s a good idea to mix it up and give viewers a show from all sides. 

What are some challenges you have experienced working in the gaming industry?

– Some of the challenges you can face in the gaming industry can be toxicity. Another is streamers getting stream sniped, and someone just looking to ruin your day in chat. You need to do your best to tune these issues out or find ways to prevent them. I always make sure I mute in-game chat and text channels when with randoms. I also try to make sure I have an overlay up for stream snipers so they cant see what server I’m trying to join. 

How hard did you work to get where you are in streaming?

– I worked very hard to where I am today. You have to sacrifice a tremendous amount of time and in most cases money as well. 

What was your most challenging moment while streaming?

–  The biggest challenge that not just me faces in the gaming industry but everyone, growth. When I first started streaming it can be really hard on yourself when you see 1 viewer in your channel for days and even months. Makes you really stop and think is this worth my time? Once you can get over that and can stick it out for the long run then you will figure out that it was well worth it time and investment that you put in. 

How did you come up with your Twitch username/channel name?

– When I decided I wanted to stream I wanted a username that was very simple and easy to stay. At that time I was playing a lot of FPS shooter games. So, I thought I needed a username that would make sense for those styles of games. 

What was your most memorable gaming experience?

– It’s hard to pick the most memorable experience but back when I was in high school me and buddy went to Gamestop for the midnight release of Halo 3! Stayed up playing for a full 12 hours straight, a moment I will never forget. 

What are some of your current goals?

– I have a goal of getting partner on Twitch. However, to achieve this you must average a certain amount of viewers for a very long duration. I try not to worry about the number of viewers I have because the number of viewers you have is just a number at the end of the day and not the real reason I’m streaming today.

If you could change one thing about any streaming platform, what would it be?

– I’m not sure how you could achieve this but it would be nice to feel like smaller streamers were cared about a little more. I believe Kick provides no ads so it would be nice to see that on Twitch as well. Ads can push a lot of people out of your stream so it would be nice to see a change like this.

Do you enjoy streaming individually or more with a gaming group?

– It has always been a blast streaming with fellow friends and collaborating with other streamers. But sometimes I enjoy just relaxing by myself and making sure I don’t miss anyone in chat.

What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever received from a viewer?

– The best feedback I have received was more on a personal level. Someone DM me after a stream and stated that they really enjoyed my content and told me to never stop, one day you make it. He said, “you changed my life and really helped me in a dark time in life. I always looked forward to your streams it helped me forget about everything else and just enjoy the content you were putting out”. I then realized, at that moment, helping others is the real reason I started streaming. And not because of money or viewers but for the simple fact that I could for even a second make someone forget about all their worries in life.   

How do you balance streaming and your day-to-day life?

– This is always an ongoing challenge. I have both a wife and a newborn son . I have to do my best to try to balance the time. Then also put into content creating and spending time with family. I do this by sitting down with my wife and picking a schedule that works best for both of us so we can see where the free time is and divide it out for gaming and time with each other or family activities. 

For our last streamer interview question:
What is the best way for a new streamer to get started?

– I think the best way for a new streamer to get started is to find a game that you can enjoy streaming consistently that doesn’t have a big audience. Having a smaller not so popular game will allow you to be at the top or close to the top of streamers list for that game. Don’t forget to get involved with other communities and developer game communities. I have found that newly developing game devs will reach out to you to help support their game if you post content for them in exchange for exposure to their audience.
